The Visitation for Mr. Murrell will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Bentley United Pentecostal Church. Services will begin at 7:00 p.m. with Pastors Bruce and Keith Maxwell officiating. Interment will take place the following morning at Big Creek Cemetery in Pollock, under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home.
Mr. Murrell, 84, was born on May 23, 1941, and died on October 19, 2025, at Rapides Regional Hospital in Alexandria, Louisiana. He was a loving and steadfast husband, father and poppa. Arnold was a leader in the community as well as his beloved church, Bentley United Pentecostal Church. He served on the Board of Directors for Bentley UPC for numerous years. As a life-long resident of Grant Parish, he served on the board of South Grant Water for 19 years. Arnold was elected in 2003 to serve as the Grant Parish Police Juror for District 4 and remained that until his passing. He spent 32 years working for Truckline Gas Company before his “retirement,” when he and his brother, Freddie, opened Murrell Brothers Construction, continuing his hobby of hard work and operating heavy machinery.
Those left to carry on with his huge absence are his wife of 63 years, Beverly McBride Murrell; his daughter, Jennifer and son-in-law Jeremy Futrell; grandchildren, Ashton Ross (Kristian), Emalea Claire, Kaylee Marie, and Austin Lane; as well as two honorary grands, Christopher Givens (Samantha) and William Bordelon (Abigail); great-grandchildren, Daxton Futrell, Ava Bordelon and Ash Bordelon; his brother, Reginald Murrell; sister, Bertie Smith; brother-in-law, Kenneth Smith; sisters-in-law, Patricia McBride Patton, Joanne Murrell, and Jean Murrell; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Murrell Sr, Pearl McGee Murrell, brothers, Herbert Murrell Jr. and Freddie Murrell, brother-in-law, Jerry McBride.
Pallbearers will be Ashton Futrell, Austin Futrell, Kevin Wingate, Kenny Smith, Reggie Murrell, Stevie Murrell, Patrick Murrell, and BL Albert. Honorary pallbearers will be Christopher Givens, William Bordelon, Donnie Brown, Ben Bryan, Trent Meeker, and Scott Armour.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Bentley United Pentecostal Church Building Fund or a charity of your choice.
His death leaves a profound absence in the lives of his family, church, and parish.
