Annie Manion

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Annie Vicente Manion Armogida on April 27, 2025. Annie was a devoted wife to her husband, Chris, and a loving mother to their two young children, Josephine and Amelia. She was a bright light whose love shone on all who knew her, and losing her will cast family and many friends in temporary darkness. We know her light will shine again in her children and in the heart of Christian.

Annie’s battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) was difficult, swift and lethal but she fought with incredible determination. Though her journey has come to an end, her memory will live on in all our hearts forever.

She leaves behind her parents John and Cecilia Manion, her sister Sarah Marie Manion, husband Christian Armogida and two girls Josephine Hope Armogida (9) and Amelia Vicente Armogida (6).

Annie was born on October 8, 1979. She went to Chandler and Westridge Schools in Pasadena. She pursued a degree in East Asian Studies at the University of Chicago. After going to Chicago, she went to Japan to teach English. Coming home from Japan, she went on to get her Master’s degree from the University of Southern California, with assistance from a Fulbright scholarship. She eventually went on to take her Ph.D. in Cinematic Arts from University of Southern California.

Annie could speak Japanese and was once told, in Japan, how well she spoke English. She could read Japanese and watch Japanese shows without subtitles. Speaking Japanese was just one of her myriad of talents, the best being a beacon of happiness and light to all around her.
