Anna Hudson

Anna Elizabeth Anderson Hudson, 99, of Hendersonville, NC, passed away on October 4, 2025. She was born November 6, 1925, in Mountain Grove, MO, the youngest of Marion Lewis and Leta Mable Anderson’s six children, all of whom predeceased her.

Ann met her beloved husband of 73-1/2 years, Miles Harold Hudson, when the two played a violin-piano duet. Miles served in the Navy from 1942 until 1947 and was aboard the USS Washington when it was damaged in the Pacific Theater of WWII. When the damaged ship returned to Bremerton, WA, for repairs, Ann traveled three days by train from Mountain Grove to Bremerton. She and Miles were married on March 21, 1944. Their abiding love and commitment were great gifts and an example to all who knew them. Soon after their marriage, Miles went back to sea for 14 months before being transferred to Washington, DC. Ann and Miles lived in the DC area for 45 years, where they raised their family of five children and were faithful members of Fountain Memorial Baptist Church, then Broadview Baptist Church. Ann sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, and participated in many church ministries.

After several years of searching for the right place following Miles’ retirement, Ann and Miles moved to Hendersonville, NC, in 1990. There they joined First Baptist Church of Hendersonville and were again active in many church ministries and mission projects. When health concerns became an issue, Ann and Miles moved to Carolina Village in 2013, where Miles passed away in 2017. Ann moved to the Care Center at Carolina Village where she was a favorite of many of the nurses.

Her eldest daughter, Annette, predeceased her in 1986. Ann is survived by: children and spouses Jan and Clyde Buchanan, Becky and Allan Houston, Richard Hudson and Linda Naef, and Mark and Leslie Hudson; grandchildren and spouses Ben and Mary Courtney Buchanan, Adam and Holly Buchanan, Elizabeth Buchanan, Brian and Nicole Houston, Laura and Todd Johnson, Tyler and Julie Naef, Caroline Hudson-Naef and Daniel Mariotti, Taylor and Justin Church, Erin and Wyndham Batton, Miles and Samantha Hudson, and Claire and Andrew Marsh; great-grandchildren Megan and Gavin Buchanan, Grady and Oliver Houston, Jack, Miles and Ava Johnson, Maverick Naef, Hudson and Carter Church, and Hampton, Lawrence, Emmitt Batton; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 18, 2025, in the chapel of Shuler Funeral Home, with the Rev. Linda Naef and the Rev. Nicole Houston officiating. Burial will follow in Shepherd Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 AM Saturday at the funeral home.
