Anita West
Anita I. West, age 79, of Cumberland passed suddenly on Friday, July 18, 2025 at Mayo Clinic Health System of Eau Claire. She was born February 27, 1946 to Henry Axel and Hilja Sophia (Mylly) Johnson in Ironwood Michigan.
The outdoors was truly Anita’s happy place – from fishing to flower gardening and mowing grass, she enjoyed the privacy and peace that came with living out in the country.
Anita will be forever missed by her life partner, Joe Strenke; sons, John D. Sain and Kelly D. Sain; grandchildren, Steven (Jen) Sain and Harley (Megan) Sain; 8 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Julia, Albert, and Jim Johnson.
Anita was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur West; parents, Henry and Hilja Johnson, and 13 older siblings.
An open house visitation will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025 from 4 – 7 PM at Skinner Funeral Home of Cumberland.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to family.
