Angelo R. Borzillo
Angelo R. Borzillo, 92, of Lansdale, passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Meadowood Senior Living, where he resided. He was the husband of the late Lucia Borzillo for 68 years, who passed in June.
Born on May 19, 1933, in Bridgeport, PA, Angelo was the son of the late Anthony and Sarah (Marino) Borzillo. He is survived by his sister Carmel Ann (John) Noblit.
Angelo was father to Anthony Borzillo (Linda) and Robert Borzillo (Terri) and proud grandfather to Robert Borzillo Jr., Steven Borzillo (Chris), and Michael Borzillo (Stephanie). Angelo is also survived by seven great grandchildren: Sophia, Joseph, Nicholas, John Pierce, Brooks, Gia, and Leo.
He graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1951, received a Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgy from Penn State University, and later a Master’s Degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Lehigh University. While at Penn State, he was in the Army ROTC and later served in the Army Reserves as a Captain.
Angelo held various engineering, supervisory, and management positions at Bethlehem Steel and was the co-inventor of Galvalume sheet steel. Galvalume is a corrosion resistant steel coating predominantly used in building construction products and is manufactured by 66 companies around the world. Since Galvalume’s development in 1972, over 220 million tons have been produced and sold worldwide.
He actively participated in all phases of the Galvalume’s development and growth at Bethlehem Steel including its invention, production, sales, marketing, and finally its U.S. and international licensing. Bethlehem Steel sold the licensing business to Australia’s BHP Steel in the mid 1980’s and he held various executive positions at BHP until his retirement in 2002. Angelo was also given many prestigious awards by worldwide trade groups including induction to the Metal Roofing Hall of Fame in 2008 and Metal Construction Hall of Fame in 2022.
A long-time resident of East Norriton and Worcester Townships, Angelo spent 25 winters in Naples, Florida. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed many hobbies over the years including making wine, which he bottled and named after his beloved wife Lucia. His career afforded him the opportunity to travel around the world visiting 23 countries.
