Resident of San Jose, CA. Alan B. Dimayuga, age 75, passed away peacefully on Apr 25, 2025, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s and Vascular Dementia.

Alan was born in Lipa, Batangas, Philippines as the youngest and only son of Modesto and Soledad. He attended Our Lady of the Rosary Academy (aka Maryknoll Lipa) Grade School, then was part of the last class (aka The Last of the Mighty) to graduate from De La Salle High School on Taft Avenue. He continued college at De La Salle University and in 1970 at 21yo, moved to the Netherlands. In 1971, while working at the Philippine Embassy in The Hague, Alan met Sarah Santiago, who was touring with the Bayanihan Philippine Dance Company. He moved back to the Philippines to care for his sick dad who passed away when Alan was 22.

Sarah and Alan married in 1975 and moved to Daly City, CA in 1976 to begin their next chapter. In 1980, the family set roots in San Jose, CA where Alan worked his way through his hospitality career. He spent 18 years with McDonald’s Corporation, where he was known as a hardworking efficiency expert and innovative store manager. His ingenuity significantly contributed to the heyday of the American fast food industry, most notably through the invention of the “set menu” concept, which evolved into the widely recognized Extra Value Meal in the 1990s.

In 1998, at the young age of 49, Alan survived a brain aneurysm and was sadly determined disabled thereafter. In 2019 at 69, he was diagnosed with cognitive impairment, which shortly after led to mixed dementia diagnosis, and later he survived prostate cancer. Throughout his health ailments, Alan brought joy and laughter to everyone around him with his jokes and tricks. He was a playful and social person who rooted for the underdog, and above all, an avowed Catholic devotee. He served his faith and community as a leader in Couples for Christ, a Filipino Catholic family life renewal ministry, and Juan Diego Society, a pro-life organization. He spent his time enjoying music, cycling, helping and praying for family, friends and strangers alike.

Alan and Sarah raised a big family of 6 wonderful children: Adrian (Rachel), Adrienne (Reja), Aviane, Astrid (Daniel), Angela and Anthony. He is Lolo to 10 grandchildren: Everly, Brooklyn, and Harper Imperial; Paxton and Bryson Magto; Amelie, Maxwell, and Easton Marquez; Desi and Demi Dimayuga. He is survived by his two beloved older sisters, Lennie and Clarissa.
