Aida Llanes

Aida Berango Llanes, 91, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at the home she shared with her beloved husband of 68 years, Rolando “Roland” Parado Llanes.

Born on November 16, 1933, in Bacacay, Albay, Philippines, Aida was the beloved daughter of Narciso and Geronima Barja Berango. During her college years in Manila, she met Roland, the love of her life, whom she married on April 27, 1957. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised six children. Aida was the heart of their family—steadfast, loving, and strong. Through her example, she inspired her children to be independent, capable, and resilient.

Before immigrating to the United States in 1987, Aida and her family made their home in Marikina, Philippines. They later settled in Daly City, where she and Roland shared 37 wonderful years surrounded by loved ones and lifelong friends.

Aida was a woman of deep faith and quiet strength—devoted to her family and guided by wisdom and an independent spirit. Generous and kind-hearted, she touched the lives of many with her thoughtfulness and care. Engaging and warm, she made friends wherever she went, but her husband, Roland, was always her closest companion and confidant. The two were inseparable – true partners in every sense of the word – sharing a lifetime filled with love, laughter, and adventure.

Together, Aida and Roland enjoyed traveling and visiting family across the country. They were socially active and could often be found at gatherings with friends and family. As founding members of the Asian American Seniors Association, they helped organize community events.

They spent countless joyful hours dancing at weekly socials in Buri-Buri, celebrating Filipino traditions such as the Santacruzan and local town fiestas. Aida also found joy in her own pastimes. She loved playing mahjong, visiting casinos, and returning home to Albay to spend time with her beloved siblings, cherishing the easy rhythm and warmth of life in the Philippines.

Aida is survived by her husband, Roland, her sons Jun, Ricky “Boyet” and his wife, Rosalie, Rene and his wife, Heather, her daughters Cherry, Gemma and her husband, Mark, and Maria Aida “Maida”; twelve grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
