Mary Fields Frazier

Mary Beatrice Mitchell-Fields-Frazier went home to be with the Lord on May 19, 2025 in the comfort of her home in Phoenix after a short battle with cancer.

Mary was born September 3, 1941, in Danville, IL, to Virgil Jefferson Mitchell and Wilma Francis Terrell, and the family later moved to Columbus, IN.

Mary married the love of her life, Paul Fields of Columbus, IN on November 12th, 1956, had 4 children: Dora Wolfe, of Phoenix, Mildred Ronghi of Massachusetts, Kenneth Fields of Phoenix, and Paula Cunningham of Phoenix. Mary, Paul and the children moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1968.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Wilma Mitchell, her husband Paul Winfrey Fields, her second husband Delbert Loren Frazier, and her partner of many years, Daniel Byrd of Phoenix, as well as sisters: Helen West, Hilda Hall, Dorothy Shelton, Bessie Purdue, and Margaret Harden; brothers: Carl Mitchell and Paul Mitchell; children: Dora Barker-Wolfe and Kenneth Fields, and grandchildren: Robert Barker and Kellie Fields.

She is survived by her sister Annie Neal and daughters Mildred Ronghi and Paula Cunningham, as well as many step-children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, step-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She was the most happiest when she was with her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren and she loved to shop and go out to eat. She was very strong in her ways and we all loved her for that. In her spare time, she enjoyed camping and sewing.

Later in life, Mary developed skin cancer on her head and was told by her doctors to wear a hat, so up for her last few years, the children and grandchildren all gave her funny hats and a story to go along with them. Mary wore everyone of those hats and her favorite was a pink light-up hat that she called her “bling bling” hat.
