Claudia was born on Dec. 27, 1949, in Jacksonville, Texas, to the proud parents Claude and Ruby Joyce McClung. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas, Texas. Although she spent her early years in Texas, Claudia found her true home in Iowa, where she enjoyed a fulfilling career with Cedar Memorial in Cedar Rapids.

Throughout her life, Claudia cherished moments spent with her family, kids and her grandchildren. She had a special love for holidays, cooking, relaxation, animals and the occasional trip to the casino. Her warmth, kindness, and love for life left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Claudia was preceded in death by her sisters, Patsy Barnes and Diane Fisk. She is survived by her brother Michael McClung and her four sons: Kelly Hathaway, Blake (Karla) Hathaway, Zack Hathaway, and Cory (Rachel) Houdek. Claudia leaves behind 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, all of whom held a special place in her heart. She is also survived by her precious cats, Chloe and Annie.

Claudia’s family would like to extend a special thank-you to the staff of Hiawatha Care Center and Dr. Mary Anne Nelson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be directed to the Cedar Valley Human Society, a cause close to Claudia’s heart.

As we say our goodbyes, let us remember Claudia for the joy, love, and warmth she brought into our lives. May her memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to us all.
