1934 – 2023
Darlene Beatrice Saxby was born unto Walter and Beatrice (Wilson) Saxby on April 5, 1934 in Pueblo, Colorado. She was the eldest of four sisters.
Darlene graduated with a teaching degree from La Sierra College (Riverside, California) in 1952. She was an elementary school teacher and librarian in California and Arizona for her entire career. She was a helpful member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. In retirement, she moved to Albany, Missouri in 2004 to live with her sister Esther and brother-in-law Clay DeMelt. She enjoyed working in the garden, crocheting, ceramics, and making clothes for her family.
Darlene passed away December 7, 2023 at PineView Nursing Home in Stanberry, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Beatrice Saxby, her sister Shirley Daniel, and her sister Opal Eldridge. She is survived by her sister Esther (& Clayton) DeMelt of Stanberry, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will hold a private memorial ceremony for Darlene in spring of 2024.
