Jean Marie Eckhart, of Janesville, Wis., formerly of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully at the age of 90, on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023, at the Cedar Crest Assisted Living Facility in Janesville.
She was born in Spirit Lake, Iowa, on Oct. 7, 1933; the daughter of Leslie and Irene (Litten) Carrier. After earning her Associate’s Degree in Fort Dodge, Iowa, Jean married Bill Eckhart on Oct. 4, 1958, in Fort Dodge. Jean lovingly devoted the entirety of her life raising her children and supporting her family. Grandma Jean wanted her granddaughter-in-law, AnnMary, to know how special she was to her for of all the field trips and special care she provided. Jean had many dear friends in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She loved her “Bridge Gals,” her quilting friends, her Liar’s Poker friends and many friends at St. Paul’s United Methodist. Jean also wanted to thank the wonderful staff at Cedar Crest and Agrace Hospice. You are all truly amazing people.
She is survived by her children: Mike (Stacey) Eckhart, Marjie (Mark) Kopp and Marc (Julie) Eckhart; grandchildren: Kelsey Eckhart, Adam (Sydney) Eckhart, Abby Eckhart, Neil (Elana) Kopp, Brock (AnnMary) Schliem, Ian (Tehya Rumble) Kopp, Emily (Kurt Morrill) Eckhart, Matt (Emma) Eckhart, Aiden Adcock and Izzy Adcock; great-grandchildren: Porter, Charlie, Brinley, Ezra and Cash; and her sister, Janet Kleber-Kinseth.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Eckhart in 2007; her parents, Leslie and Irene Carrier; and her siblings, Joyce Hansen and Jack Carrier.
