Shirley M. (Struchen) Marsh, 84, a lifelong resident of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2023. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 28, in the Mt. Moriah section of Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.

Shirley was born on Jan. 2, 1939, in Alburnett, Iowa, the youngest of seven children to Carl and Harriet (Johnson) Struchen. She attended Marion High School. On April 17, 1959, Shirley was united in marriage to Dennis Earl Marsh in Marion, until his passing in July of 2021. She worked at the Marion MeToo/Sunmart Grocery stores for many years and loved interacting with people while working. Shirley loved to paint, house projects and crafts. She enjoyed walking her dog and was an excellent cook. She had an inner strength that allowed her to accomplish many difficult tasks. She was a former Sunday School teacher. Shirley will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Shirley is survived and lovingly remembered by her daughter, Christy Wilson of Marion; grandchildren, Chad, Ryan (Cassie), Ashton and Chloe; and great-grandson, Chase.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Denny; a son, Andrew; four brothers, Gene, Norman, Donald and Jerry Struchen; and two sisters, Carline Skallerup and Mary Kroeger.
