Jerry Joe Newberry

Jerry Joe Newberry

Our beloved O Bear, Jerry Joe Newberry, passed peacefully from this life while surrounded by his family on January 23, 2023. He is a cherished father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, lovingly known to his family as Daddy O and Diddy, papaw and Goopa.

Jerry was born on September 20, 1957, to Ann and Bobby Joe Newberry. He graduated from Levelland High School in 1976. He began his career as a heavy-equipment operator and transitioned to a career in the photography industry for 20 years, before completing several safety certifications and becoming a safety contractor in the oil and gas industry.

Jerry played little league baseball, rode dirt bikes and drove dune buggies in his youth. He enjoyed classic cars, hot-rods, and all things motor sports. He traveled extensively, and made new friends everywhere he went, but his greatest passion in life was his family. He was a devoted father; his children meant everything to him, and he would give the world to keep them safe and see them smile.

He went to be with his mother and father, and other loved ones who have passed before him. He is survived by his wife, Ellen; brother, Bobby Don; children, Bradey, Ben, Baeley, Brayden (Mina), Brant (Juana), and Brandon (Nicole); grandchildren, Mylen, Nolen, and Laynee; and nieces, Crystal and Brittany.
