Charles “Fast Eddie” Edward Velky, 57, of Solon, passed away suddenly in his home on Saturday, November 5, 2022. Celebration of Life gathering will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, November 12, 2022, at the Ely American Legion Post, located at 1545 Main Street. Private family inurnment will be at a later date. Brosh Chapel and The
Avacentre in Cedar Rapids is in charge of arrangements.
Charles was born November 17, 1964, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Emil and Mary (Buchanan) Velky. He graduated from Mt. Vernon High School. Charlie was united in marriage to Julie Herbert on September 17, 1999, in Cedar Rapids. He drove semi with his brother Butch, at Velky Log Hauling for many years. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, hunting, and most of spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter Emma.
Charlie is survived by his wife Julie; his daughter Jen (Chris) Colby; granddaughter Emma; his siblings Emil Jr. “Butch” Velky (Carol), Cheryl Velky, Brian (Karrie) Velky and Tanya Velky (Chris); sister-in-law Teresa (Jim) Young and Jackie Herbert; a brother-in-law Pat Malatek; special friend Bill (Cheryl) Lehman; as well as his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Donna Clark and Gloria Malatek, his in-laws John and Betty Herbert, sister-in-law Nancy (Jon) Hoffa and his beloved dog Bruiser.
