Norman Earl Cogil passed away on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022. A viewing will take place at the Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel on Tuesday, Sept. 20, from 4 to 6 p.m. with a wake service at 6 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, at St. John XXIII. Cedar Memorial funeral home is in charge of the arrangements.

Norm is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marge.

They have six children, Christy of Albuquerque, N.M., Mike of West Branch, Iowa, Linda (Sam) of Fairfax, Iowa, Tim (Jana) of Littleton, Colo., Brian (Gail) of Gretna, Neb., and Craig (Roxanne) of Jamaica, Iowa; plus 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and his sister, Mona Baldwin of Paxton, Neb.

Norm was preceded in death by his parents, Doris and Earl Cogil.

Norm grew up in Ogallala, Neb., from where he graduated high school and married his sweetheart, Marge. After joining the FBI, they lived in Washington, D.C., Anchorage, Alaska, and St. Louis, Mo., before returning to Nebraska to raise their family. After Norm’s stint with the FBI, he worked much of his life in the hardware and lumber business. He enjoyed traveling, adventures with his family, especially hiking the Colorado mountains. In addition, he was an avid volunteer within the communities where he lived, including the last 14 years at Meth-Wick Deer Ridge.

The family wishes to thank the nurses, aides and staff at the Woodlands at Meth-Wick and Hospice of Mercy for their wonderful care.
