Ronald “Ron” Edward Castleman

Ronald “Ron” Edward Castleman, 90, of Springfield, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 20, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on November 13, 1931, the son of Arlis W. and Mae Ellen (Max) Castleman.
Ron graduated from Beecher City in 1948. He began working for his father at Springfield Dairy. Soon after graduating, he met the love of his life, Vernople “Nopie” Weyant. They later married on January 27, 1951, and recently celebrated 71 years of marriage. Ron was a plaster contractor for many years and owned his business, Ron Castleman Plastering. Ron had a love for racing and enjoyed helping his family with their racecars.
Ron is survived by his wife, “Nopie”; two daughters, Vickie (Rick) Britz and Grace (Rich) Hayes; four grandchildren, Jennifer Hayes, Kelly Brentz, Nicole Edwards, and Brian (Sarah) Zorn; five great-grandchildren, Blake Andonov, Danielle Zorn, Akzana Edwards, and Mason and Joey Zorn; two sisters, Lucille Turner and Elsie Mae Stazak; brother, Arlis (Evelyn) Castleman; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Norman Castleman.
Visitation: 9 – 11 am, Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.
Funeral Service: 11 am, Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield, with Reverend Jon Carrell officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
