Rebecca Jean Waldrop, 87, of Payson,Az. passed away Oct 16,2025 in Scottsdale,Az. She was born in Park City,Ky. After graduating from high school at Park City High School, “Becky” married her childhood sweetheart Douglas S. Waldrop. This began her dream of being a wife and mother. She made a home, that intangible,undefinable thing called home. Everything she did, she did it unto the Lord. She loved to cook,make all kinds of crafty things, read aloud to her family, and she enjoyed teaching childrens Sunday School classes at church. She enjoyed supporting Doug as he taught high school and as he worked at the Grand Canyon National Park during the summers. She had a great appreciation for all of our National Parks. Becky had several jobs outside of the home throughout her life. She was a secretary at Scottsdale’s Coronado High School; a Circle K clerk; and was part owner/operator of Payson Funeral Home on Aero Drive in Payson,Az.; Becky was also happy to serve as “Pastors wife” during the time that Doug pastored the Tonto Village Chapel in Tonto Village,Az.
Rebecca is survived by her three Children; Paul (Bridget),Shawn (Pam), Debbie Pownall (Dennis); four Grandchildren, twelve Great Grandchildren and two Great Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by her Brother In Law Mark (Diane) Waldrop, Sister In Law Joan Waldrop, many cousins, nieces and nephews and friends who she cherished.
A visitation will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday Oct 25, 2025 at the Messinger Payson Funeral Home Chapel 901 S. Westerly Rd Payson, AZ with funeral services to be held at 11:30. Interment will follow at Mountain Meadows Memorial Park Cemetery Payson, Az.
