Dr. David Price

Dr. David Alan Price, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, died on July 29 at the age of 83. He was born on May 8, 1942 in the Bronx to Irving and Miriam, and a few years later became a big brother and lifelong friend to his sister Susy.

He was a graduate of Bronx Science, Columbia University, and NYU School of Medicine. He was a resident at Beth Israel and then served in the US Army before moving to Rockland County to begin private practice. Over a 30-year career as an OB-GN, he delivered more than 4,000 babies, serving as Chief of Obstetrics at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, NY. He enjoyed being part of the happiest time in the lives of so many patients and their families.

He loved woodworking, tinkering and fixing things and attempted to pass those skills down to his children and grandchildren. Any challenges doing so were driven by the limited abilities of his pupils, not his own.

He was an active coach of his children’s sports teams and an equally active cheerleader. Later, he was a constant presence on the sideline of whatever sport his grandsons competed in.

He enjoyed watching football, despite the limited success of his beloved NY Giants. He loved playing and watching golf. He was an avid reader and consumer of news and current events, intellectually curious throughout his life. He and Susan loved to travel, most especially to the national parks, which held a special place in his imagination.

What he loved most of all was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Susan; his sister, Susy; his children, Felicia, Jeffrey (and wife Alex), Kenny Ehrman (and wife Brooke), and Michael Ehrman (and wife Julie); as well as eight grandsons: Tyler, Brendan, Jake, Hudson, Isaac, Shea, Hayden, and Julian.
