‘Why I Teach’ video features Maiya Foster, third-grade teacher at Fremont Elementary

The Carson City School District recently released a new installment video to its #WhyITeach playlist on the district’s YouTube channel, which features Maiya Foster, a third-grade teacher at Fremont Elementary School.

The video offers a heartfelt look into Ms. Foster’s journey as an educator—sharing what drew her to teaching, the challenges she’s faced and the rewards that make the profession so meaningful. Originally from California, Foster also reflects on why northern Nevada and the Carson City School District felt like the perfect place to begin her teaching career.

The #WhyITeach series highlights the passion, purpose and personal stories of educators across the district, giving the community a glimpse into the dedication that shapes classrooms every day. Foster is the eighth teacher to be featured in the series.

The school district hopes parents, families and community members and partners are inspired and enjoy this inside look into an everyday setting of one of their classrooms.
