Josephine Dhayer

Josephine M. Dhayer of North Royalton passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2025 with family at her side. She is survived by her daughters Teresa Kovacs (Jeff) and Marianne Gedeon, grandchildren Kathryn (Greg), Joseph, Nicole, Samatha (Matt), Michael and great grandchildren Avery, Anna, Amelia, Olive, Juniper, Alden and Mae as well as other dear living relatives.

Jo was a very strong, independent hard-working woman. She loved and supported her family and after 34+ years working for Ohio Bell she retired and helped with the day-to-day care of her grandchildren. The grandchildren have many humorous stories about their adventures with grandma. Jo was a member of the local Red Hats and other social groups. She enjoyed going out with her friends, and was always the life of the party. Holidays were her favorite times of the year, especially Halloween and Christmas. There were large gatherings for family and friends. She decorated her house for every holiday, every season. Jo herself was always dressed to the nine’s…hair, makeup, clothes, jewelry and shoes, everything had to be coordinated. She had a watch and purse to match every shade of the rainbow. Jo was very precise in her schedule. She kept an immaculate home, and was an excellent seamstress. She made many amazing Halloween costumes for her grandchildren.

Caring for Jo as she aged could be challenging at times and the family wishes to extend gratitude and appreciation for the wonderful, loving care she received at Vista Springs Ravinia Estates in Independence.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials be made to The Catholic Charities, City Mission, Greater Cleveland Food Bank, or Parma Animal Shelter.

A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, November 15 at 10 a.m. at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 6667 Wallings Road, North Royalton, Ohio 44133-3067.
