Benjamin Paul Geib, 43, passed away on Friday, September 5, 2025, in Washington, DC, following a hard and bravely fought battle with Alport Syndrome and lymphoma.
Benjamin was born June 28, 1982, in West Bend, WI; from an early age, he showed he was smart, thoughtful, caring, and inquisitive about the world, and these were the qualities he was known for throughout his life. Benjamin graduated from Cedarburg High School in 2000 and University of Wisconsin-Madison, Summa Cum Laude, in Computer Engineering in 2005. He then moved to Washington DC, and attended Georgetown University Law Center, including a semester at King’s College in London, graduating with a JD in 2012. Benjamin worked as a patent examiner for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for the last 20 years, specializing in computer architecture and AI technology.
As a teen and young adult, Benjamin enjoyed many different activities and adventures including traveling, snowboarding, and spending time with friends. In 2015, Benjamin met the love of his life, Jennifer Tam, and they married in Virginia in 2019 and welcomed their son, Samuel, in 2022. Above all else, Benjamin loved his family and was particularly proud of Samuel. Benjamin’s favorite thing to do was spend time with his wife and young son: going for walks, playing at the park, and just spending quiet time together at home.
Benjamin was funny and wise, and a wonderful husband and father who, even when he was in the hospital, was primarily concerned about the wellbeing and care of his wife and son. He was always generous and loving, and thought of others before himself. Benjamin was a friend for life, and his deep friendships remained from high school, college, and work, with many friends across the country.
Benjamin is survived by his wife, Jennifer Geib, and son, Samuel Geib, of Gaithersburg, MD, parents Kathleen (David) Rintelman of Cedarburg, WI and Brian (Cheryl) Geib of Grangeville, ID, parents-in-law Luen Fai and Elsie Tam of Silver Spring, MD, siblings Alexis (David) Storms of Wild Rose, WI, Ryan (Angel) Rintelman of Hartford, WI, Nicole (Ryan Eigenfeld) Rintelman of Hubertus, WI, Bradley Rintelman of West Bend, WI, and Jessica (Daniel) Dolezal of Cascade WI, sister-in-law Rosalie Tam of Silver Spring MD, Godchildren Gabriel, Elijah, Noah, and Malachi Storms, and grandmother Gerri Noack of Grafton, WI, as well as many other loving nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, aunts, extended family and friends.
