Charlotte Vanderbilt

Charlotte Faye Vanderbilt, age 90, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2025. Born in Picher, Oklahoma, on November 3, 1934, Charlotte was the daughter of a race horse owner and trainer. Her early years were spent traveling the racing circuit, where she later met and married a jockey.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a woman of many interests. Faye raised two daughters, Julie (Richard) and Suzi (Andy), and built a rich career across several fields. She owned a beauty salon and wig shop in San Ysidro, California in the 1950s, became a dedicated nurse for over 20 years, and later thrived in real estate alongside her husband, Norman Vanderbilt, working well into her 80s.

Her greatest joy was her family – especially her grandson, Jay, who lovingly called her “Boonga.” Faye’s warmth, strength, and spirit touched all who knew her.

A private family gathering will be held to honor her remarkable life.
