Constance “Connie” Joan Riegel

Constance “Connie” Joan Riegel, 64, of Springfield, passed away on Monday, December 6, 2021 at HSHS St. John’s hospital. She was born May 4, 1957, in Springfield, the daughter of George and Doris (Dunbar) Rudis and they preceded her in death. She married Mark Riegel on May 20, 1978 and he survives.

Also surviving are three children, Matt (Todd) Riegel-Pinkerton, Greg (partner: Bob Fickes) Riegel and William (April Salto, deceased) Riegel, all of Springfield; three grandchildren, Paxton, Parkur and Addie, and their mother, Tawny; sister, Karen (Mike) Reed of Noblesville, IN; brother, George (Debbie) Rudis of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Connie attended mass at Blessed Sacrament Church. She was an LPN for the Springfield School District, primarily at Southeast High School as well as at River Birch Assisted Living. Connie was an avid reader and supported her local library. Additionally, Connie was a die-hard CUBS Fan and truly loved standing in Wrigley Field.

Visitation: 4 – 7 pm, Monday, December 13, 2021 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Funeral Service: 10:30 am, Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Pastor Mike Harney officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
