Jonette Moran

We are heartbroken to share the loss of our beloved, Jonette “Joni” Moran (Figueroa). Joni was born in Sunnyvale, California, on April 1, 1959, to Manuel and Naomi Figueroa. It was a tragic loss to our family to lose Joni to heart disease on July 28, 2025. Throughout her life, she brought warmth and joy to those around her; her welcoming, caring, and loving spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered. She had a gift for giving great advice and empowering others to stand up for themselves.

Joni grew up in Yakima, Washington. She attended Barge-Lincoln Elementary, Washington Middle School and Davis High School. Joni worked in the legal field for many years until she decided to retire in 2015.

Family was the heart of Joni’s world. She found immense joy and happiness spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She was incredibly proud of her grandson Ricky Jr. and always attended sporting events to cheer for her other grandson Manny at his football and wrestling matches. Sundays and holidays were especially meaningful to Joni – times when she would gather loved ones around the table for the big, delicious meals she so lovingly prepared. Her kitchen was a place of comfort where laughter echoed and memories were made.

Joni also enjoyed trying her luck at the casino, embracing each visit with a sense of fun and determination to hit the Jackpot!

Joni was a devoted wife to her husband Rick for 44 years. She was a strong and inspiring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She always had her family’s back, which was evident in her actions. She is cherished and remembered by her husband, Ricky D. Moran; her daughter, Harli Moran and partner, Alberto Valencia, and her grandson, Alberto Manuel Lee (Manny) Valencia; her grandson, Ricky Jr. Moran and partner, Ichnic Gonzalez, and great granddaughter, Mariana Itzel Moran, all of Toppenish, Washington. Her grandson, Israel Eugene “Gordo” Salamanca of Spokane, Washington. Joni is also survived by her brother Manuel (Mondo) Figueroa and his wife Sherry, as well as her sister Annette Figueroa of Yakima, Washington.

Joni was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Manuel and Naomi Figueroa; her son, Ricky Lee Moran; and her daughter, Chezare Star Moran.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Shaw & Son’s Funeral Home, 201 North 2nd Street, Yakima, Washington. It was Joni’s wish to be cremated. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
