Neal Krucoff

Neal Krucoff, family man, lawyer, Washingtonian, died July 19, 2025. Born in Washington, D.C., in 1935, Neal lost his father, Barney, at age 11. Thereafter Neal and his brother, Larry, were raised by their mother, Ruby Gensberg Krucoff. Neal grew up in D.C.’s Woodley Park neighborhood and referred to his cohort as “Jews West of the Park.” He was one of the first students at Georgetown Day School and went on to Alice Deal and Landon. In high school he was a member of the Pi Tau Pi fraternity, and he remained in contact with his fraternity brothers throughout his life.

At age 17, Neal met his future bride, Ella Lublin, then age 14, at a dance. Throughout their 65-year marriage, Neal and Ella were always admired for their dancing.

Neal graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, then served in the U.S. Army Transportation Corps. He went to Georgetown University Law School and became a successful local lawyer specializing in real estate and family law.

Professionally and personally, Neal Krucoff was a Washingtonian to the core. He served in the first class of ANC Commissioners, rooted for the Redskins, and supported enfranchisement for D.C.

Neal read the thickest history books he could find and in his retirement shared his knowledge with visitors to the National Museum of American History and the U.S. Capitol as a volunteer.

Neal is survived by his wife, his brother, two sons and three grandchildren.
