Kathy Sue King

Kathy Sue King (Hyatt), 66, of East Flat Rock, NC, passed away on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Wake Forest Baptist Cancer Center in Winston-Salem, after a brief illness.

She was born in Haywood County to the late Mary Hyatt and late Wayne King. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph King; brothers, Robert and Danny Hyatt; and sister, Barbara Shelton.

Before residing in East Flat Rock, NC, she lived in Hendersonville and Candler, NC. She worked as a waitress, food prep and retail. Kathy was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed celebrating holidays from dressing up to decorating to giving gifts, shopping, bingo, playing cards, puzzles, going to the beach, Atlanta Braves and Carolina Panthers, attending flea markets, playing pool and enjoying quality time with family and friends.

She is survived by her sons, Matthew King of East Flat Rock, NC; Mark King and his wife Azucena and grandson Wiley of Minot, ND; sisters Pat Butler and husband Larry of Maggie Valley, NC; Cynthia Jones of Canton, NC; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and long time friends Loretta, Fran and Stephanie.

A funeral service will be held at two o’clock p.m. on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, in the Chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Pastor David Stanford officiating. Graveside services will follow.
