Michele Edgar

Michele “Mickey” Edgar, 75, of Wheeling, Illinois, was called home on July 8, 2025. Born in Elgin, Illinois, Mickey dedicated 34 years of her life as a beloved gym teacher in District 21, shaping and inspiring generations of students with her energy and kindness.

Mickey was a devoted mother to her two loving daughters, Megan (Francisco) Uriostegui and Kim Edgar. She cherished her five grandchildren – Gabriela (Jose) Uriostegui, Marianna (Danny) Zamudio, Jonathan Uriostegui, Addison Edgar, and Francisco Uriostegui Jr. – and found joy in watching them grow. Her great-grandchild, Jazlynn Uriostegui, was a bright light in her life.

Alongside her human family, Mickey had a special place in her heart for her “fur babies”: Pepper, Harper, Loki, Hope, Benji, Snickers, Chi, Nugget, and Bailey, who brought her endless comfort and companionship.

Mickey is also survived by her sisters, Pat Paul of Union, Illinois, and Linda Brooker of Issaquah, Washington, as well as her niece, Catherine Brooker, and nephew, Matt Paul.

She is preceded in death by her parents Ed and Rosemary(Krepel)Young; her sister and brother-in-law Penny and Bob Braasch; her sister Sandra Young(in infancy); and her brother-in-law Jack Paul.  

A memorial service to honor Mickey’s life will be held at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home 185 E Northwest Hwy Palatine Il on Saturday July 19th from 12-4pm. At 3pm a short service will be held for anyone wishing to share memories followed by a prayer with pastor Tom Tews officiating. Friends and family are invited to come together to celebrate the kindness, warmth, and love she shared with everyone around her. Mickey’s vibrant spirit and loving heart will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who knew her.
