Magola “Magolita”

Magola M. Shiffer, age 96 passed away on June 29, 2025 at El Camino Hospital, Mt. View, California. Magolita was accompanied by her loving family and friends.

She was born Maria Magdalena Tavera Rodriguez, one of two children, to Luis Alazn Tavera and Isable Rodriguez Plata, Bogota, Colombia. Magolita enjoyed dancing, meeting people, traveling, Colombian food, haggling for deals, and was married to John Shiffer for 47 years. She was the Matriarch of the Prada Family, had a heartwarming smile, loved to tell stories of her life, adventures, and had five catch phrases:

• That’s It;

• I do myself; Top of the Line

• I make a mistake; It’s my culture

Magolita is survived by 5 children, 20 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. Together John and Magola visited Europe, Mexico, South America, the Caribbean, raised a family, enjoyed playing slots, and brought smiles to everyone they met.

A rosary service and memorial will be held at Lima & Campagna Sunnyvale Mortuary on Tuesday June 15th at 11:00 AM. The burial service to follow at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery. A reception lunch will follow at Luigis Family Pizza/Pasta, Campbell, CA 95008.
